Jammu, Dec 2: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on Tuesday presented the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman an exhaustive survey report vis-à-vis extensive damages caused by the rain-induced floods and landslides in August-September this year in the Union Territory and demanded an all-inclusive central relief package.

The demand was raised when a high-level delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (J&K BJP) met the Union Finance Minister in New Delhi on Tuesday evening.

The delegation comprised J&K BJP president and MP (Rajya Sabha) Sat Sharma; Union MoS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh; LoP in J&K Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma, MP (Lok Sabha), Jugal Kishore Sharma; MP (Rajya Sabha) Ghulam Ali Khatana; MLAs Dr Devinder Manyal, Sham Lal Sharma and R S Pathania.

Following an unprecedented spate of natural calamities that struck the Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu in particular, in August-September this year, the J&K BJP had deployed its over 200 party leaders and office bearers, joined by thousands of party workers to conduct a survey of the affected areas. As per its survey report, 4000 houses and 3000 schools were damaged in the calamities which also badly impacted over 2500 km of road network.

“The response of the Union Finance Minister to the points raised by the party delegation was very positive,” said a BJP leader, who was part of the delegation.
