Rahul, Kharge’s letter to PM Modi on statehood: JKPCC leadership expresses gratitude to party high command
Srinagar, Jul 16: The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has expressed gratitude to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for restoration of statehood to J&K.
A statement said, “ We expresses gratitude to Congress high command for raising the most delayed, genuine and popular demand of people of J&K. We have decided to intensify the struggle for statehood during the forthcoming session of Parliament starting from July 21.”
A meeting of senior JKPCC leaders was held today under the chairmanship of President Tariq Hameed Karra. The leaders expressed gratitude to the party President and LoP in Rajya Sabha Malikarjun Kharge and LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for writing to the Prime Minister for bringing a bill in the forthcoming session of parliament to restore the promised statehood to J&K.
They added that the the Congress high command has taken up the call at a very important juncture, when parliament session is starting on July 21 and the Central government should bring a bill in this regard at the earliest, as promised.
The PCC alleged that the central government is denying the people of J&K, the most genuine and basic right of statehood.
