Radical social media user detained: CIK
Srinagar, Nov 13: A radical social media user was detained on Wednesday, Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) said.
A statement of CIK issued here said that it reliably learnt that Navidul Ali Bhat, son of Ali Muhammad Bhat of Tazipora Mohanpora, Kulgam, presently pursuing M Sc in Lab Sciences, was misusing social media for radical propaganda aimed at instigating people against the Centre and glamorising terrorism in J&K.
It said that Navidul was in constant touch with some cyber and virtual entities involved in radicalising and motivating the youth to join terrorism and terrorist ranks.
The CIK said that Navidul also consumes the radical content available on the internet.
It said that he was about to join the terrorist ranks.
The CIK said that on receipt of the information, a special team of CIK apprehended Navidul for questioning.
“The parents and respectable persons of his neighbourhood have been called for counselling,” he said. “The Kashmiri youth have been appealed to refrain from involving in such illegal activities and parents are advised to keep a close watch upon their wards so that the youth do not fall in the trap of such enticements.”
