Quetta blast kills 10 outside paramilitary HQ, toll may rise
New Delhi, Sep 30: At least ten people were killed and several others injured when a powerful car bomb ripped through Quetta on Tuesday, outside the Frontier Constabulary (FC) headquarters, The Times of India reported, citing Dawn newspaper. “The blast occurred as an explosive-laden vehicle took a turn from Model Town towards Hali Road, near the FC headquarters,” said Muhammad Baloch, SSP special operations Quetta.
The explosion, heard miles away, sent ambulances rushing to the scene to ferry the wounded to nearby hospitals.
Provincial health minister Bakhat Kakar warned that the toll could climb as many of the injured remain critical. The attack underscores worsening security in Balochistan, a region long scarred by violence from separatist groups such as the banned Baloch Liberation Army. Earlier this month, a suicide bombing at a political rally in Quetta killed 11 people and wounded more than 40. Pakistan has battled a decade-long insurgency in the province, with more than 782 people killed in 2024 alone, according to reports. Since January this year, over 430—mostly security personnel—have died in militant attacks.
