Questioned for showing up late for duty, Karnataka constable assaults woman sub-inspector
Srinagar, Sept 30: A police constable in southwestern Indian state of Karnataka was suspended on charges of assaulting a woman police sub-inspector on Sunday.
The woman sub-inspector Mallamma was supervising the security arrangements for the mandatory Kannada exam for aspirants to the posts of panchayat development officers (PDOs) at the RRK college.
Constable Dhanraj was among those deputed for duty at the exam centre. However, as he arrived later than the scheduled time, he was questioned by Mallamma.
On this, Dhanraj attacked her, said district Superintendent of Police (SP) Pradeep Gunti, reported Deccan Herald.
"He held me by the scruff of my neck and dashed my head to a nearby tree. I have suffered serious injuries in the head. The x-ray shows a blood clot. I will be travelling to Bengaluru for further treatment,” Mallamma said at the BRIMS hospital, where she was undergoing treatment.
