Quad conducts first logistics field exercise in Guam
New Delhi, Dec 20: Quad partners, Australia, India, Japan and the United States, successfully conducted their first Field Training Exercise (FTX) under the Quad Indo-Pacific Logistics Network (IPLN) on the sidelines of Operation Christmas Drop at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.
The IPLN is a joint initiative aimed at enabling Quad countries to leverage shared logistics capabilities to respond more quickly and effectively to large-scale natural disasters across the Indo-Pacific.
The mechanism is designed to support civilian relief efforts, save lives, accelerate recovery, and assist regional partners during emergencies. The exercise enhanced the Quad’s disaster response readiness through practical training focused on interoperability and coordination. Activities included familiarisation and boarding drills on a Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF) C-130H transport aircraft, allowing participants to better understand each other’s operational capabilities. The FTX, together with an IPLN Tabletop Exercise held in April 2025, highlights the Quad’s commitment to strengthening practical cooperation to address regional challenges and uphold a free and open Indo-Pacific.
