Qayoom Wani urges LG for age-relaxation in police telecommunication SI recruitment
Srinagar, Nov 29: Jammu & Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani has made an appeal to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter of age eligibility for the recently advertised Sub-Inspector (Telecommunication) posts in the Police Department.
Wani said that the current upper age limit of 28 years will deprive a large number of deserving and qualified youth of J&K from applying. He reminded that the government had earlier granted a two-year age relaxation, extending the limit to 30 years, acknowledging the academic and career delays faced by students.
“Since the previous recruitment processes were stalled for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation that unfolded after abrogation, students lost crucial years through no fault of their own,” Wani said. “It would be unfair and discouraging to deny them an opportunity now when the system itself failed to provide timely recruitment.”
JKCSF has appealed the LG to restore the two-year age relaxation and revise the upper age limit to 30 years so that all eligible aspirants get a fair chance to compete.
Wani added that this youth-centric decision will bring relief to thousands of families and will broaden the availability of skilled candidates for technical posts in the Police Telecommunication Wing.
“JKCSF hopes that the Hon’ble LG will take a sympathetic and just decision in the larger interest of the youth,” he said. Wani urged upon the government for filling up all the vacancies in all government and semi-government departments so that unemployed youth may have a sigh of relief and public delivery system will become effective people friendly. Non availability of staff in government departments, semi-government departments and hospitals have badly affected the system and the common people are facing the brunt .
