Punjab resident with Heroine worth Rs 33 crore held at Jammu Bus Stand

Srinagar, Aug 09:  The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain Friday said that they recovered Heroine which he said was worth Rs 33 crore at bus stand even as one person from Punjab was also arrested.

The police chief said that they had received an information regarding two persons carrying a large bag, following which he said his men acted fast arresting one person and seizing the bag. He provided no information about the second person.

After the initial investigations, he said that it was found the bag contained "high quality heroine worth Rs 33 crore.

The arrested person he said is from Punjab and that his actual age and other details would be established after more investigations, news agency KNO reported.

The initial investigations, the police chief said also revealed that the consignment had come from the border area. To whom it was being smuggled to and who had handed over the consignment is yet to be known, he said.

While it is not for the first time a Punjab resident has been arrested in Jammu, the ADGP said that it is not known whether the consignment was received through an air drop or any other means.

Terming the busting as big success, he said that 23-people have been booked under the PSA and that property belonging to drug dealers worth Rs 14 crore was attached.
