Punjab: Adampur Airport renamed after Guru Ravidass Maharaj on Sant Ravidass Jayanti

New Delhi, Feb 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the renaming of Adampur Airport as Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji Airport is a fitting tribute to the saint’s timeless ideals and his message of equality, compassion and service. Calling the decision a moment of “immense honour and pride”, the Prime Minister said the renaming was announced on the auspicious occasion of Sant Ravidass Jayanti, making it a joyous day for countless people.

In a post on X, Modi said, “It’s a matter of immense honour and pride that today, on the auspicious occasion of Sant Ravidass Jayanti, it has been decided that the Adampur Airport will now onwards be known as Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji Airport. This is a joyous day for countless people.” He added that the move honours the enduring legacy of Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji. “It is a fitting tribute to the timeless ideals of Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji. His message of equality, compassion and service continues to motivate us all greatly,” the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Modi also paid tributes to the great saint on his birth anniversary. PM Modi stated that in his thoughts, the spirit of justice and compassion was supreme, which forms the very foundation of our schemes for public welfare. “The lamp of social harmony and goodwill that he ignited will forever continue to illuminate the path of the countrymen”, PM  Modi said.
