Pulwama welcomes new NIT campus, but demands fair compensation and jobs: Waheed Para
Srinagar, Dec 26: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader and MLA Pulwama, Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, has expressed strong reservations over the acquisition of 5000 kanals of land for the establishment of a new National Institute of Technology (NIT) campus in Pulwama, saying the project will face strong resistance without ensuring fair compensation and job guarantees for locals.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, in a communiqué, has formed a team to expedite revenue paperwork for transferring 4834 kanals and 19 marlas of state land for the NIT campus in south Kashmir.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Para wrote: “Pulwama welcomes the establishment of an NIT, but seizing 5000 kanals of land is unacceptable. Without fair compensation and guaranteed jobs for locals, this project will face strong resistance.”
