Srinagar, Mar 10: Department of Higher Education, Govt of Punjab has requested the Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Govt of India that the colleges affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh, Punjabi University, Patiala, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar running BBA/ BCA and other professional courses must be given one year time to apply to All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and last date to apply and adhere to norms of AICTE should be extended to 31st March.

As per notification number D.No. 815/ College Education/DHE dated 7th March,  the representations have been received by the Punjab Govt from colleges affiliated to respective universities. These colleges are running BBA BCA courses after due approval and under the norms prescribed by respective universities from the last 20-25 years and were not covered under AICTE domain.

Earlier also Dr Anshu Kataria, President, Federation of Self Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI), All India  and Punjab Unaided Colleges Association   (PUCA) has requested AICTE that since 1987 since the AICTE act was passed; BBA, BCA, BMS were never it's part. " After almost 4 decades, suddenly bringing BBA BCA Colleges under its ambit is shocking."

The affiliated colleges under Panjab, Panjabi   and Guru Nanak Dev University have expressed the concern that BBA BCA courses are being run successfully  and any move to derecognize will jeopardize the efforts of State Govt and will also affect the implementation of NEP 2020 to ensure multidisciplinary aspect in education system.
