PUCA announces Rs 50 Cr scholarship for J&K students
Srinagar, Sep 9: Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA), in association with the Kashmir Career Counselor Association (KCCA), today announced a scholarship worth Rs 20–50 crore for deserving and needy students from the region. The announcement was made during an Education Summit held in Srinagar, attended by students, parents, education counselors, and academicians.
A statement issued here mentioned that Dr Anshu Kataria, President of PUCA and Chairman of Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh, described the initiative as a historic step to support bright students in overcoming financial barriers to higher education. Around 20 leading colleges from Punjab collectively pledged scholarships worth Rs 2.5 crore each, covering multiple streams and disciplines.
The summit also saw participation from over 200 education counselors across J&K, providing personalized guidance to students and parents on admissions, career planning, and scholarship opportunities.
KCCA members, including Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Rayees Ali, Muneeb Basit, Ayaz Ali, Nasir Hussain, Nabeel Showkat, and Sanam Bhat, highlighted that the scholarships would benefit thousands of students, particularly those from rural and underprivileged backgrounds, while opening doors to reputed institutions across Punjab, as per the statement.
Participating institutions included Aryans Group of Colleges (Chandigarh, Amritsar), Amritsar College of Nursing, Akal College (Mastuana Sahib), Ashoka Group of Institutions (Patiala), Bharat Group of Colleges (Sardulgarh), Global Group of Institutes (Amritsar), Gulzar Group of Colleges (Khanna), Jain Group of Institutions (Abohar), KC Group of Institutions (Nawashehar), Quest Group of Institutes (Jhanjeri), Saraswati Group of Colleges (Maur Mandi), SBS Group of Educational Institutions (Patti), Shiva Group of Colleges (Himachal Pradesh), Sri Sai Group (Pathankot), St. Mary’s Rehabilitation University (Hyderabad), Sukhjinder Group of Institutes (Gurdaspur), SVIET Group (Banur, Rajpura), and Vidya Jyoti Eduversity (Derabassi), the statement said.
