Publicize Authenticity: Authorities Should Act
Landed in a medical college, a white coat apparel, a stethoscope hanged, an anatomy/physiology book in the hand, a group photo with other colleagues – was not a dream come true rather a tragedy for those who got trapped into the consultancy scam; found themselves on the ventilators; the hard earning of their families bled and now gasping for their future.
No sooner did the news about overseas MBBS scam surfaced; the dreams of these aspirants had already shattered. The hard earned money of their well wishers had gradually faded into nothing. This is not just a story. It is a moment to ponder as to why in pursuit of overseas careers and jobs, our youth fall prey to these scammers.
We have seen these scams play out often in one or the other form wherein parents infuse their blood to brighten future of their wards but no avail. But it is quite different from that scam wherein common people are lured while scrolling their phones and getting trapped into an unknown network.
The probe revealed that a huge amount of money had been collected under the false pretext of securing medical admissions. However that amount was never deposited with any medical college.
This is a trap laid down on our own soil. This is not a tragedy confined to those who lost their life’s earning. It could be your children, our children. It is an alarm bell to ponder as how parents with only goal in mind to see his son or daughter prospers get deceived.
Due to high number of aspirants and limited seats in our Valley, the admission process is highly competitive and parents having intense craving to seeing their wards as doctors send them overseas.
We focus on their dreams come true, ignoring authenticity of these consultancies before handing over hard earned money. The aspirants who desire these highly professional courses should play mature and cautious.
The authorities at the helm also have responsibility. Be more concerned about saving future of the aspiring youth, as were concerned to save lives of those who were studying in foreign and conflict erupted. Through websites and other media regularly publicize the validity and authenticity of consultancies offering admissions overseas, in synergy with the respective embassies.
Ensure gullible people are saved from those orchestrating such scams; ensure money is not siphoned from them for nothing. It is the same money accumulated by them throughout their life. They pay in lieu of their blood as a life saving for the bright future of their wards.
