Provide compensation to affected families: Usman Majid

Srinagar, May 1: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) Vice President and former minister Usman Majid today expressed serious concern over the extensive damages caused by torrential rains across Bandipora district and called for a comprehensive compensation to the affected families, farmers and orchardists in this regard.

In a statement, Majid urged the district administration of Bandipora to swiftly direct the revenue authorities to undertake thorough assessments of the losses incurred by the affected households, farmers and orchardists. “These assessments must be conducted expeditiously to facilitate the prompt provision of compensation and relief to those who have suffered immensely because of weather vagaries,” he said.

Majid expressed grief and concern over the massive damages caused to households, farmers, orchardists due to devastating particularly in areas like Arin Block,  Bonkoot Block, Chittibanday, Aragam, Pautshay, Laweypora, Panzigam, Onagam, Aloosa, Ajas Block,  Sonawari Block and many other villages of district.

 

He also urged that LG administration should depute a team of experts from Horticulture Department to fruit orchards in all districts of the Valley to ascertain losses and recommend remedial measures to be taken so that the remaining crop can be saved from disease.
