After the beginning of the Ramadhan there is a demand from people in various areas for adequate power supply, particularly during the Sehri and Iftaar times.

The power curtailment programme issues by the Power Development Department (PDD) continues to be in force. Due to the power crisis, the unscheduled power cuts are also being witnessed. In view of the power shortage people are already facing lot of inconvenience.

Residents in several areas are alleging no power supply during sehri and iftaar. They have been urging the concerned authorities to make the supply at least available at the two times. The authorities must take steps to address the problem and provide the electricity to the consumers.

Power generation at local level has also improved after the end prolonged dry spell in the winter. The consumers say that if the authorities have to buy more power it too should be done to have uninterrupted power supply during sehri and iftaar in all areas.

There is also a need to improve the power scenario even after the Ramadhan. The authorities must look into the matter as to why serious power crisis occurred in this winter. Corrective measures should be take to prevent re-occurrance of the power shortage in next winter.

The power generation must be increased and more power bought from outside to meet the demand. Providing of round the clock power supply should be extended to more metered areas. Such a facility must not remain confined to a few areas only.

There is a lack of coordination in sending electricity usage bill on daily basis to consumers, having smart meters, on their mobile phones. A number of consumers say they do not get the bill on daily basis.

The pre- paid consumers fear discontinuation of the supply to them in absence of the daily bill. Since the bill is  not sent on their mobile phones daily, they do not get an idea regarding their exact balance.

The bills should be daily sent to such consumers on their phones so that they are able to pay in advance the amount. Causing  inconvenience  to consumers and that too unnecessarily must be avoided.
