Protest staged at Sub District Hospital Sopore
Sopore, Aug 17: In solidarity with the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at R G Kar Medical College in Kolkata, doctors and other paramedics staff at the Sub District Hospital, Sopore, hit the hospital premises on Saturday to demand justice for this brutal incident.
Reports said that protesting doctors while holding their protest demonstration carried placards at hospital premises bearing messages of “Justice for Victim,” “Justice for RG Kar,” and “End Violence Against Women.”
They raised slogans demanding immediate action against the “culprits and also highlighted the need for improving security measures.”
The agitating protesters shouted slogans such as “No Security, No Duty” borrowed from the GMC Srinagar agitation, as they tried to underline their concerns pertaining to personal security and better protective measures for healthcare workers and women.
A trainee doctor at SDH Sopore said, “We stand united in our demand for justice and safety. The tragic loss of a doctor underscores the urgent need for stronger protective measures and accountability. We will not rest until our voices are heard and justice is served.”
