Kupwara, Mar 16: The residents of Batpora Ganie Mohalla, Lalpora area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Sunday staged a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to repair the electric transformer of the village despite the passage of over ten days.

A group of men staged a protest in their locality during which they raised slogans against the PDD officials for failing to repair the transformer.

“For the past 10 days we have been suffering due lack of electricity but authorities are yet to provide us transformer," said a protestor.“We have been forced to hit the streets as the concerned authorities have failed to mitigate our problem,” she added.

The protesters said that the area was reeling under darkness for the past 10 days which forced them to stage protest. "During this holy month of Ramadhan we are forced to suffer due to lack of electricity but authorities seem to be watching our miseries as mute spectators," said protestor.

The residents have appealed Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Lolab Qaiser Jamsheed Lone to intervene into the matter immediately so that they may get a new transformer and their hardships would end.
