Proposed 20% power tariff hike financial burden on people: Iqbal Tramboo

Srinagar, Nov 22: The Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly opposed the government’s proposed 20 per cent electricity tariff hike, terming it exorbitant, unjustified, and deeply insensitive to the economic hardships faced by the people of Kashmir.

Addressing media persons during a press conference, PDP spokesperson, Mohammad Iqbal Tramboo expressed serious concern over the widespread distress the proposal has created among the general public.

He said the decision reflects a complete disconnect of the administration from the ground realities in Jammu & Kashmir. Tramboo stated that the people are already grappling with inflation, erratic power supply, unemployment, and overall economic instability, and imposing an additional financial burden in such circumstances is unacceptable.
