Property of notorious drug peddler attached under NDPS Act in Rajouri: Police
Rajouri, Apr 02: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Rajouri said to have attached and seized property worth fifty three lakhs belonging to a notorious drugs peddler.
The action of police has been taken under NDPS Act.
In an official statement, police said that in a major crackdown on drug-related crimes, Rajouri Police has attached, seized property worth approximately fifty three lakhs including a triple-storey residential house and a car, belonging to a notorious drug peddler.
The action was taken by a police team from Police Station Rajouri led by the Station House Officer under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Rajouri following a thorough inquiry.
The property, police said, was identified as illegally acquired through proceeds from narcotics trade.
The accused Haroon Rashid son of Abdul Rashid resident of Ward No. 2 Rajouri had amassed these assets through illegal drug trade.
Acting swiftly Rajouri Police invoked Section 68(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 leading to the attachment, seizure of the said properties, police stated.
In its statement, the Rajouri Police reiterated its committed to zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and said to have been actively working to curb the menace of narcotics in District Rajouri.
Such actions will continue to ensure that individuals involved in illegal drug activities face strict legal consequences, police stated.
