An official said that the property of four terrorist handlers who were declared as proclaimed offenders by the orders of the court were attached by the Police.

"These handlers have ex-filtrated to Pakistan in the nineties and following years. They are actively involved in reviving and spreading terrorism in Handwara and other areas of J&K,” he said.

Meanwhile, Police in a statement said, “Acting tough against the wanted local terrorists based in Pakistan, J&K Police has launched a special drive against the absconders and wanted terrorists and as part of this drive, properties of four terrorist handlers who were declared as proclaimed offenders by the orders of the court were attached on the orders of the court by Police District Handwara.”

It said that these absconders and proclaimed offenders had ex-filtrated to Pakistan or PoK in the 1990s or early years of the 2000s and are presently in Pakistan or PoK.

“Since then, they are continuously involved in handling terrorists and reviving and spreading terrorism in Handwara and other areas of J&K,” the statement said.

“Following the prescribed procedure, land measuring 10 marlas at Kralgund belonging to proclaimed offender Mumtaz Ahmad Khwaja, son of Muhammad Subhan Khawaja of Kralgund; land measuring 16-3/4 marlas belonging to Lateef Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rehman Bhat of Badra Payeen; land measuring 1 kanal and 2 marlas at Ashpora belonging to Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, son of Muhammad Sultan Mir of Ashpora; and land measuring 1 kanal at Khaipora belonging to Ghulam Nabi Ganai, son of Ghulam Rasool Ganai of Khaipora, Qaziabad was attached by Police District Handwara on the orders of the court,” the statement said. “These terrorists are also involved in different cases of Police District Handwara and are actively trying to revive and run the terror ecosystem in J&K. Besides these four, 51 persons from J&K who have ex-filtrated to Pakistan or PoK for illegal arms training and are operating from there have also been declared as proclaimed offenders by the court. The action is also being contemplated against them under the law.”
