Rajouri, Jan 19: The prolonged dry spell is taking toll on human health in Rajouri.

In recent weeks several people were already suffering from mild respiratory infections and illness . However, now the patients with severe pneumonia have started reaching the hospital here.

Doctors are witnessing a five times increase in the number of patients with respiratory issues.

Head of Department Chest and TB Diseases in Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri, Dr Mohammad Zaeem Khan said that earlier there was only an increase in the number of patients with respiratory issues but their illness level was not that much severe. But now the illness level has started to rise and in some cases it is severe, he added. .

" We are now receiving patients having pneumonia also which is ranging from mild to severe nature and in some cases it has also reached a concerned stage where patients are also having high value of pus cells. Pus fluid has also accumulated in their chest region," Dr Zaeem said.

He further expressed concern over no forecast of rainfall in next few days. He added that the dry cold season due to lack of rainfall is now badly affecting people and things are expected to improve only after rainfall as well as snowfall, which will end the dry cold.

Dr Zaeem once again advised people to stay alert towards dry cold and to follow every possible precaution.
