Rajouri, May 1: In a step towards extending hands of cure to aged people from remote areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts, Indian Army has restored the eyesight of 15 elderly civilians after conducting their free of cost cataract surgeries.

These surgeries have been conducted by 150 General Hospital of Army under the aegis of Ace of Spades Division.

These aged people, especially belonging to Gujjar and bakarwal community, were screened during army camps and found having eye vision issues due to cataract and were not able to go for surgeries on their own due to multiples issues including financial constraints, family issues.

Army officials said that these identified people were brought in 150 GH Rajouri where team of expert doctors performed cataract surgeries on them after which they were taken care of in all kinds of post - operative needs.

"150 General Hospital Rajouri under White Knight Corps has restored eyesight for 15 civilian patients including members of Gujjars and Bakarwal community with free cataract surgeries and post-operative care," army said.

Demonstrating “Care beyond cure”, this initiative continues our outreach programs under Project Milap, it said.
