Prof R D Swain sets course for educational excellence at PPS Srinagar

Srinagar, May 1: Jammu and Kashmir Police Public School (PPS) Srinagar Chairperson, Prof Rasmita Dass Swain Wednesday said that to elevate the standard of education and provide top-notch facilities to the students, PPS Srinagar had set ambitious targets to become a leading educational institution in the country.

On her visit to the institution during which she inaugurated the new smart classrooms and attended the graduate ceremony, Prof Swain emphasised her vision to elevate Police schools to new heights by providing quality education and nurturing talented individuals.

“When Swain Sahib took over as DGP of J&K, my biggest dream was to take our Police schools to great heights,” Prof Swain told a select group of reporters. “We aim to not only provide quality education but also prepare quality teachers and students.”

She said that the target was to be the highest provider of education in Kashmir, catering to civilians, Police personnel, children of soldiers killed in the line of duty, and children of constables.

“We aspire to nurture the dreams of our students, whether they aspire to become scientists, astronauts, or pursue any other profession they want to. This workshop is a launch pad for students to achieve their life goals,” she said highlighting the school’s commitment to excellence.

Acknowledging the efforts of the Police school’s leadership, Prof Swain praised the transformation in the school’s environment, citing smart classrooms, highly motivated teachers, and enthusiastic students as the goals they were aiming for.

She expressed confidence that the school would continue to contribute to the improvement of its quality.

Underlining the importance of supporting families of Police personnel including children of soldiers killed in the line of duty, Prof Swain said that there were plans to enhance the hostel facilities for these children.

“We have a three-year prospective plan to increase girls' education and provide free education to lower-ranking personnel's children,” she said and explained that their expansion plan includes a 200-girls’ hostel and accommodation for children from remote areas, including those living in high altitudes.

“We want to see the children do the best in their life,” Prof Swain said, emphasising the school’s commitment to ensuring the success and wellbeing of its students.

She also dedicated three new school buses to the school.

Prof Swain also distributed gifts among 40 school kids to the wards of fallen soldiers.

The occasion was also celebrated as the graduation ceremony of nursery kids of the school’s kindergarten wing.

Prof Swain lauded the role of the fallen soldiers and assured that the school would always take care of their wards.

She also reviewed the school’s functioning and its infrastructure.

Prof Swain emphasised improvement in education level by adding quality teachers and advanced learning systems to the school.

On the occasion, she also congratulated the parents of graduated children and all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school for great results and performance.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Swain assured all the participants that the school would keep organising such events in future too.

She emphasised the teachers to fulfill the academic commitments at all costs.

The inauguration of the smart class and Prof Swain’s remarks underscore the Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association (JKPWWA) and PPS’ dedication to providing quality education and fostering a conducive learning environment for all students, reflecting a broader commitment to excellence in education in Kashmir.

Administrative Officer Sujit Kumar Singh, DIG CID Kashmir, Principal PPS Snigdha Singh, Eva Rayees, Pragati Pandey, Mehak Chakravarty, Sahar Zamil, Imtiyaz Ahmad SP West, Shabeera Shabnum, and all the staff of PPS Bemina Srinagar were present on the occasion.
