Proactive domination, intelligence use key to safeguard peace in South Kashmir: Northern Army Commander
Srinagar, Dec 18: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander of the Northern Command on Thursday reviewed the prevailing security architecture and assessed the operational preparedness of forces deployed in south Kashmir.
The visit underscored the Army’s continued focus on maintaining a high state of readiness in a complex and challenging security environment. During the review, Lt Gen Sharma was briefed by senior commanders on the evolving security situation and the measures in place to counter emerging threats. A key focus of the briefing was the joint intelligence framework, which integrates inputs from multiple agencies to enable timely, accurate assessments and swift decision-making. The Army Commander was informed about refined operating procedures that enhance coordination on the ground and ensure rapid, calibrated responses to any contingency.
The briefing also highlighted strengthened coordinated response mechanisms among the Army and other security agencies, aimed at improving synergy during operations and ensuring seamless execution of tasks. Emphasis was placed on proactive domination measures, effective use of intelligence, and sustained vigilance to safeguard peace and stability in the region.
Lt Gen Sharma interacted with troops deployed in sensitive areas, gaining first-hand insight into their operational challenges and preparedness levels. He commended the soldiers for their exemplary professionalism, firm resolve and unwavering commitment to duty, noting that their dedication remains central to achieving operational excellence.
Reaffirming the Northern Command’s resolve, the Army Commander stressed the importance of adaptability, continuous training and robust coordination to meet security challenges. He encouraged all ranks to maintain the highest standards of discipline and readiness while continuing efforts to ensure a secure environment for the local population.
