New Delhi, July 13: The President of India has nominated four distinguished individuals to the Rajya Sabha, recognizing their significant contributions in the fields of law, diplomacy, history, and social service. The newly nominated members are Ujjwal Nikam, C. Sadanandan Master, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, and Dr. Meenakshi Jain.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated all four nominees in a series of posts on social media platform X, praising their achievements and expressing confidence in their future contributions to parliamentary proceedings.

Lauding Ujjwal Nikam, a senior advocate known for prosecuting several high-profile criminal cases, the Prime Minister said he has shown exemplary dedication to the legal field and constitutional values. “Shri Ujjwal Nikam’s devotion to the legal field and to our Constitution is exemplary. He has not only been a successful lawyer but also been at the forefront of seeking justice in important cases,” said PM Modi, adding that his nomination to the Rajya Sabha was a welcome step.

On the nomination of veteran teacher and social worker C. Sadanandan Master, the Prime Minister called his life story an "epitome of courage and refusal to bow to injustice." PM Modi noted that despite facing violence and intimidation, Master remained committed to national development and youth empowerment.

Former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla was praised for his career as a diplomat and strategic thinker. The Prime Minister highlighted Shringla’s contributions to shaping India’s foreign policy and his role in the G20 Presidency. “His unique perspectives will greatly enrich Parliamentary proceedings,” PM Modi said.

Describing the nomination of Dr. Meenakshi Jain as a matter of "immense joy," the Prime Minister commended her scholarly work as a historian and academic. He noted her significant contributions in the fields of education, literature, and political science, and extended best wishes for her parliamentary tenure. The nominations are seen as reinforcing the Rajya Sabha’s role as a chamber of intellectual and professional depth, drawing expertise from diverse domains of public life.
