New Delhi, Nov 27: President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the third edition of the Indian Army’s seminar, Chanakya Defence Dialogue-2025, in New Delhi on Thursday.

In her address, the President praised the Indian Armed Forces for their professionalism and dedication in safeguarding the nation. She said the forces have shown exceptional adaptability during conventional operations, counter-insurgency missions and humanitarian crises. Referring to the recent success of Operation Sindoor, she said it marked a milestone in India’s counter-terror and deterrence strategy, demonstrating both military capability and moral responsibility.

Highlighting the evolving global environment, the President noted that shifting power centres, emerging technologies and new domains such as cyber, space and cognitive warfare are reshaping geopolitics. She said India’s approach balances strategic autonomy with global responsibility, projecting a nation that seeks peace while remaining prepared to defend its borders.

President Murmu appreciated the Army’s ongoing reforms under the Decade of Transformation, aimed at restructuring doctrines and strengthening capabilities to make the force future-ready and self-reliant. She also commended its focus on youth engagement, expansion of the NCC and growing participation of women officers, calling it a step towards greater inclusion. She expressed confidence that the discussions during Chanakya Defence Dialogue-2025 would offer valuable guidance for national policymaking and contribute to achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047
