President Murmu confers Florence Nightingale awards on 15 nurses

New Delhi, May 30: President Droupadi Murmu presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for 2025 to fifteen distinguished nurses at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. The recipients, hailing from across the country, were honoured for their exceptional contributions to healthcare and nursing services.

Awardees represented a broad range of regions including Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Manipur, Mizoram, Puducherry, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

Instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Florence Nightingale Award recognises meritorious services rendered by nurses in India.

It is considered one of the highest national honours in the field of nursing, celebrating dedication, compassion, and commitment to patient care. The awards are named after Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, and are presented annually to coincide with the International Nurses Day celebrations.
