Pregnant woman rescued by police in Rafiabad amid heavy snowfall

Sopore, Feb 20: Amid heavy snowfall a pregnant woman was rescued by police from Zethan to PHC Dangiwacha in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad on Tuesday morning.

Police officials said a distress call from Shamshad Ahmad Mir of Zethan Dangiwacha requested for urgent rescue and medical evacuation of his pregnant wife who was in critical condition and was received by Sopore Police. “Due to heavy snowfall from the last two days, the road was completely blocked and the movement of vehicles was very difficult,” officials said.

Realising the exigency, a rescue team headed by SHO Dangiwacha was immediately deputed to respond to distress call. Despite heavy snow on the road, the rescue team reached the location on time and the patient was carefully and safely evacuated to PHC Dangiwacha.
