Srinagar, Nov 26: On the eve of Constitution Day, also known as ‘Samvidhan Diwas’ being observed every year on November 26, Preamble reading ceremonies were held across all the districts of Kashmir. The day was marked by reading of preamble and solemn pledge ceremonies with participants reaffirming their commitment towards principles of the Constitution.

At district headquarters, the respective Deputy Commissioners presided over the functions and read out the Preamble and Charter of principles enshrined in the preamble of Constitution, said an official statement.

Srinagar

The district administration hosted the live streaming of J&K level event besides organized pledge-taking ceremonies across the district, which was attended by DC Akshay Labroo. The DC emphasised the importance of upholding constitutional values, including social justice, liberty, and equality and encouraged all officers to embody these principles in public service as enshrined in the preamble of our Constitution. Meanwhile, employees at SKICC also took an oath on the occasion.

Budgam

The Constitution Day, was celebrated across Budgam district  where DC Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, presided over the programme. The DC remarked that Constitution Day commemorates the momentous occasion when the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India on November 26, 1949, which subsequently came into force on January 26, 1950.

Baramulla

District Baramulla marked the occasion with a series of engaging events aimed at promoting awareness about the Constitution and fostering civic responsibility among students and citizens. DC Minga Sherpa, along with senior officers and officials participated in the pledge-taking ceremony. The DC inaugurated a specially curated exhibition organised by the Information Department. Minga Sherpa also flagged off a mini marathon.

Anantnag

On the 76th Anniversary of adoption of the Constitution of India, Samvidhan Diwas ( Constitution Day), was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor across district Anantnag.

The main function, organised by District Administration at Town Hall Anantnag, was attended by Deputy Commissioner, SF Hamid, ADDC, GM DIC, ACR, ACD, CPO, Exen R&B, Exen PDD, CEO, CEO MCA and other district and sectoral officers, officials from various departments besides students and civil society members. Participants listened to live streaming of  Lieutenant Governor's speech from Jammu and read out the Preamble of the Constitution of India. Addressing the gathering, the DC said that we all should act in conformity with the constitutional principles in personal as well as official capacity as a fitting tribute to our glorious constitution. Similar events were held in Subdivisions, Tehsils, Blocks, ULBs, educational institutions and public offices of the district.

To create awareness of the Preamble of the Constitution and constitutional values, multiple mini-marathons and wall art paintings were organised which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and youth. Special documentaries depicting the making, adoption, evolution and role of constitution in realising the ambition of Viksit Bharat were also screened in colleges and higher secondary schools of the district.

Shopian

District Administration Shopian held series of events aimed at reinforcing constitutional values, democratic responsibilities and citizen awareness. DC Shishir Gupta presided over the proceedings. The DC led the preamble reading, reaffirming the collective commitment towards the values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.

Kulgam

District Kulgam saw Preamble read by DC Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan and others. A ‘Run for Rights’ was also organised while functions were organised at sub-division and tehsil levels, where officers and officials deliberated on the significance of the Constitution in governance.

Uri

The Constitution Day was celebrated in GDC Uri under the aegis of TLSC Uri , in collaboration with College Administration. The event marked, reading of the preamble of the constitution. Students of the college also spoke about the constitutional values. Adv Shamim Chalkoo, Bar President Uri highlighted the role, of constitution and fundamental rights. Chief Guest of the function Mahmud Anwar Alnasir, Chairman TLSC Uri, readout preamble to the bar members and students of GDC Uri. Later he highlighted the importance of safeguarding freedom everyday, saying it is not a thing to be taken forgranted.  SDPO Uri, DySP Tariq, APP Yaser Arfat, Principal GDC Uri Prof. Abdul Majid Chalkoo, Adv Mumtaz Saleem Vice President Bar, also attended the function. Function was attended by college students, members of the bar.

Meanwhile, district administration Pulwama, in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) Pulwama organised a mega event. A cricket match was organised at the Sports Stadium Pulwama. It saw presence of DC Dr Basharat Qayoom unveiled a Preamble Plaque at the District Administrative Complex. Similar events were also organised at the sub-divisions Awantipora and Tral.  District Administration Kupwara also held a series of events. A walkathon was organized. Similarly, ADC Handwara along with the officers and officials read Preamble of the Constitution.

As per the directions of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh , Constitution Day was observed at Mission Vatsalya Kupwara, presided over by the Principal Magistrate  Juvenile Justice Board Kupwara Mudasir Bashir, within the premises of the Social Welfare Department, in line with celebrations held across the country. All officials JJB,CWC,DCPU,APP, and CHL of  participated in the programme and collectively read out the Preamble. District Administration Bandipora joined the nationwide celebrations. DC Indu Kanwal Chib and others joined the UT-level Preamble Reading Ceremony, Preamble Reading Ceremonies were organised across all government offices of the district, including at the Sumbal and Gurez Sub-divisions. District Administration Ganderbal also participated in the UT level celebration of Constitution Day. A grand Preamble reading ceremony was organised led by DC Jatin Kishore, while a mini marathon was flagged.
