Pragya Thakur alleges she was pressured to name Modi, Yogi, RSS leaders
New Delhi, Aug 2: Days after her acquittal in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur has alleged that she was tortured during the probe and pressured to falsely implicate Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and others, reports TOI and several other national media.
Thakur, who was among seven accused acquitted by a special NIA court on July 31, claimed she was forced to take names of several BJP and RSS leaders as part of an effort to misdirect the investigation.
The Malegaon blast, which occurred on September 29, 2008, killed six people and injured over 100. The court cited lack of evidence and inconsistencies in prosecution claims while acquitting all accused, including Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit. Families of the victims have indicated plans to appeal the verdict.
