‘Power Fencing System’ across 10 J&K jails | Panel to enquire into irregularities committed during supply, installation

Jammu, Jan 17: J&K government has constituted a 3-member panel to enquire into the irregularities committed during the supply and installation of the ‘Power Fencing system’ across 10 jails of the Union Territory.

The Director General, Prisons-led panel has been given a month to submit its report with recommendations.

The committee, with Director General Prisons, J&K as its convenor, will have Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department and Financial Advisor/Chief Accounts Officer (FA/CAO), Home department as its members.

“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a Fact-finding committee, comprising these officers to enquire into the irregularities committed during the execution of the project “Supply and installation of Power Fencing system across 10 jails of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir”,” read an order issued by GAD.

As per its terms of reference, the committee will examine all aspects of the case, including “actions taken by the officers or officials of the Prisons Department at the time of issuing the supply order, and the process followed while allotting CMC/AMC contract, without adhering to the terms and conditions of tender for the project.”

“It shall fix the responsibility for acts of omission and commission on the part of the officers or officials of the Prisons Organization. The committee shall furnish its report to the government along with recommendations, within 30 days,” GAD Commissioner Secretary ordered.
