Srinagar, Aug 31: Residents of Mount View Colony, Zakura, in Srinagar are facing a host of issues, as the condition of their main road has gone from bad to worse, leaving them to battle potholes, waterlogged ditches, and defunct street lights.

Children in particular are facing extremely difficult times as they have to wade through waterlogged ditches on their trip to and from school.

The road that has developed many potholes is turning out to be a puddle, making the route hazardous for students.

“It is a daily fight for my kids,” said Javed Ahmad, a resident of Mount View Colony, Zakura. “They come home soaked, and I fear they will fall ill.”

It is much riskier for the elderly inhabitants of the colony. Some elderly residents, who go for prayers at the adjacent Masjid, have fallen multiple times on the bumpy path, putting themselves at risk.

“It is ironic that our area has been neglected on the developmental front. We appeal to concerned MLA to look into the matter and take remedial measures," they added.
