Postal, home voting begin in Budgam

Budgam, Nov 5: The electoral process for the 27–Assembly Constituency Budgam gained momentum today with the commencement of both postal ballot and home voting, reflecting the Election Commission of India’s commitment to inclusive and accessible elections ahead of the November 11 bye-polls.

At the BDO Office Budgam, postal ballot voting began for employees engaged in essential services who may not be able to visit polling stations on election day. District Election Officer (DEO) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, said the facility has been organized efficiently to ensure a smooth and transparent process, allowing eligible voters to exercise their democratic rights. “As per the ECI guidelines, the district administration has worked diligently to assist voters in casting their votes via postal ballot while maintaining the integrity of the system,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Home Voting process also commenced across the constituency for senior citizens aged 85 and above, and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) with a benchmark disability of 40 percent or more. Dedicated polling teams, comprising presiding officers, polling officials, and security personnel, visited the homes of eligible voters to facilitate the process in line with Election Commission norms.

The initiative received an enthusiastic response, with many beneficiaries expressing gratitude to the Election Commission and the district administration for extending such citizen-friendly facilities.
