They said heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply towards Kashmir on Sunday.

Traffic officials monitoring the regulation of traffic in Ramban said that the National Highway remained open but the traffic movement remained slow due to on foot movement of nomads and their livestock, slippery road conditions and single lane carriageway at Dalwass, Mehad –Cafeteria, Panthyal Nachlana, Gangroo, Shalgari, Kishtwari Pathar and poor road surface conditions at many places between Nashri-Banihal sectors.

They said despite slow traffic movement hundreds of light medium and heavy vehicles had crossed the Nashri-Banihal sector for their respective destinations without any interruption till late in the evening.

They said heavy load carriers are heading towards Jammu in a regulated manner.

Earlier during the day traffic jams were observed at many places between Ramban and Banihal due to on foot movement of nomads with their livestock and due to single-lane and poor road surface conditions at many places between Ramban and Banihal.

Commuters and drivers complained that they remained stuck in traffic congestion for long durations in scorching heat at isolated places between Ramban and Banihal.
