Baramulla, May 15: An electric pole near the statue on Tehsil road Baramulla has dangerously tilted, posing a high risk of falling and potentially causing a severe mishap.

This tilting of the  pole has caused serious concern among the local shopkeepers besides daily commuters who frequently use this busy road.

The pole, which is essential for street lighting, not only tilts precariously but also has a large crack at its base, with the result it faces the risk of toppling over.

The Tehsil Road is one of Baramulla's busiest roads with hundreds of vehicles passing through it daily.

Besides, numerous school buses traverse this route, as several schools are located nearby.

Farooq Ahmad, a shopkeeper on the Tehsil Road, while urging for its replacement said, "The electric pole stands right in the middle of the Tehsil road square." he said. "We shopkeepers are often frightened over the position of this pole. We request authorities to immediately shift this pole or replace it with a new one."

While requesting authorities to ensure immediate action, the locals, especially the daily commuters have urged the Baramulla district administration to direct the concerned department for the replacement of this pole.

"Authorities need to take swift action to prevent any tragedy. Immediate measures to either secure or replace the pole is essential to ensure the safety of all who travel on this road, especially the students, “said Mushtaq Ahmad, a  resident.
