POONCH TERROR ATTACK | Anti-terror operation enters day 7
Rajouri, Dec 28: The anti-terror operation, launched after the terrorist attack in DKG forests on December 21, continued for the seventh consecutive day as joint teams of security forces conducted searches in areas located near Dehra Ki Gali, borderline of twin districts Rajouri and Poonch, on Thursday.
Officials said, “Joint teams of security forces continued their operation in dense woods. Operation is being monitored closely by senior army officers.”
The operation was launched by forces on December 21 evening in the areas between Dehra Ki Gali (DKG) and Bufliyaz. These areas are still under cordon.
Meanwhile, restrictions on mobile internet services in Rajouri, Poonch too remained in place. Facing suspension of telecom services for almost a week now, people are calling for immediate revocation of restrictions as they have not been able to avail many digital services, thus hampering their day-to-day activities.
The mobile internet services were suspended during the intervening night of December 22 and 23 to prevent rumour mongering, especially after three local men from Topi Peer village of Surankote, near the terror attack site, died under mysterious conditions after they were lifted by army for questioning.
Restrictions on mobile internet services have put people in a tight spot, especially in those areas where broadband or fibre-based internet services are not available. People from different such areas of Rajouri have called for restoration of mobile internet services.
