Poonch road accident: Woman’s body recovered, two passengers still missing

Poonch, Mar 01: A woman’s body has been recovered from the site of a road accident in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the death toll in the mishap to two while two passengers continue to remain missing.

The accident took place in the Kalai area of the district on Thursday after a passenger cab veered off the road and plunged into the Dingla river.

Seven passengers were rescued in an injured condition while four persons went missing.

On Saturday, rescue teams recovered the body of a woman, who was identified as Shaheena Akhtar, wife of Karamat Hussain, a resident of Manjakote.

On Friday, the body of one man was recovered by teams from the police, NDRF, and SDRF.

According to SSP Poonch, Shafqat Hussain, search operations are still underway, as one woman and a two-day-old infant remain unaccounted for.
