Poonch administration bans sale, use of fire crackers
Rajouri, Nov 6: Poonch administration Thursday imposed a ban on sale, use of fire crackers owing to its risk of creating confusion to any firing incident.
An order in this regard has been issued by District Magistrate Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma.
As per the order issued by the DM Poonch office, Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch vide No CS/M-file/2025/6798 dated 06-11-2025 has reported that marriage season is underway and people often resort to bursting of fire crackers during the marriage ceremonies, celebrations of other events particularly during night hours.
“The Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch has further reported that the use of fire-crackers by the general public particularly during these events, may create confusion among the Security Forces, Army and Police leading to obstacle in the way of quick response by security forces to any possible terror attack/firing incident,” the order of DM Poonch read.
It has further been informed by the office of DM Poonch that Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch has requested for imposing ban on sale of fire-crackers and making the general public aware through both print and electronic media as well as through drum beating at public places to not use fire-crackers during functions for security concern.
“Therefore, in view of these facts and in exercise of powers vested in me under section 163 Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), I, Ashok Kumar Sharma, JKAS, District Magistrate, Poonch hereby impose complete ban on sale and use of fire crackers within the territorial jurisdiction of District Poonch, till further orders,” the order read.
