‘Poll result failure of Congress, not of I.N.D.I.A’
Srinagar, Dec 5 : Former chief minister and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah today said the victory of BJP in the recent assembly elections in three states is not the failure of National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) allies but that of the Congress party.
He was talking to media persons after paying floral tributes and saying fateha prayers at the mausoleum of his grandfather and NC founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 118th birth anniversary.” Let me tell you that I.N.D.I.A alliance has not failed. The BJP’s victory is failure of Congress party to some extent,” the former chief minister said.
The NC leader added that assembly polls in the three states were not jointly contested by I.N.D.I.A allies but some of the parties contested it on their own. That way it is not the failure of the alliance but that Congres s,”he said.
Omar said that it is to be seen whether the coming Lok sabha polls will go same way as the recent assembly polls. He criticised BJP saying that when the party faces defeat in state assembly elections it says these were not Lok Sabha elections and will have no impact on the parliament polls. But when BJP wins assembly election they claim that this is the victory of central government, he added.
