Baramulla, March 23: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla Minga Sherpa on Saturday stated that the political parties can hold political rally or any procession after seeking proper permission from the District Election Officer (DEO).

He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of an event held to raise voter awareness among people as part of the SVEEP initiative.

The DC Baramulla flagged off a boat rally from suspension bridge Deewan Bagh which concluded at Eco Park Baramulla.

"We have already convened meetings with political parties and it has been stated that as per the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, political parties must obtain permission from the District Election Officer for any political rally, event, or procession," DC Baramulla said.
He said the administration has urged the political parties to fully adhere to any guidelines from the ECI, whether it's regarding expenditure monitoring or the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

"These steps are being taken so that we can have a free, fair, and foolproof election," he said.

He said all the preparations with regard to the elections are going on under which the first round of randomisation was conducted in which representatives of all political parties and all the Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) were present as well.

"Apart from that, other tasks such as special summary revision has also been completed," he said.
Notably , the Baramulla parliament constituency will go for polls in 5th phase, as per the schedule notified by the ECI.

About the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla said that such initiatives are being taken to raise awareness among people for their maximum participation in the election process.

"We are getting good response through such events. We will continue such events in all the segments of Baramulla district," he said.
