Political leaders condole demise of Sitaram Yechury
Srinagar, Sep 12: Several political leaders have condoled the demise of senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury.
Chairman Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Ghulam Nabi Azad posted on X , “"Deeply saddened and shocked to hear about the passing of my dear friend Sitaram Yechury ji. We've lost a great statesman, a dedicated parliamentarian, and a remarkable human being. His demise is a tremendous loss for national politics. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues."
National Conference (NC) Vice President posted on X , “Very sorry to hear about the tragic demise of Sitaram Yechury sahib earlier today. He was a stalwart of the leftist political movement in India & a strong voice against fundamentalist forces. I join my father & my colleagues in sending our condolences to his family & party members.”
In her post PDP President Mehbooba Mufti wrote, “ "Shocking. Deepest condolences to his family and loved ones."
Congress leader Saifuddin Soz in a statement said, “I express my deepest sadness on the demise of senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury. I knew him closely for more than three decades and maintained friendly relations with him, till now." He said Yechury had "many qualities of head and heart and was respected all around, cutting across party lines."
CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami posted on X, “Deeply pained to hear about the passing of my long-standing comrade, Com Sita Ram Yechury. His sudden demise is a great loss to left and democratic movement. Com. Yachury was the hope of hopeless and a beacon of resilience in most challenging times.”
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra said his party is deeply saddened by the passing of Comrade Sitaram Yechury, a stalwart leader and a true champion of the people. In a statement Karra said,” The party unit of J&K condoles the demise of Comrade Yechury and remembers his tireless efforts to uphold the values of democracy, secularism, and social justice. His contributions to the political landscape of our country are immense and invaluable.
The JKPCC extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and comrades. His loss is a huge void in the political landscape of our country, Karra added.
