Political leaders condole demise of Fali S Nariman

Srinagar, Feb 21: Several political leaders have condoled the demise of eminent jurist Fali S Nariman.

National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah have expressed profound anguish over his demise.

In his condolence message, Dr Farooq said, “As an eminent jurist and a powerful public voice, Nariman ji has left an indelible mark on the landscape of Indian law with his exceptional legal acumen and unwavering commitment to justice. His demise marks the end of an era. I send my sincere condolences to his family, and his numerous admirers during this difficult time.”

Omar said, “I am saddened to know about the demise of Eminent jurist Senior Advocate Fali S Nariman. Truly, the end of an era. A fierce votary of civil liberties and secularism, Nariman’s was a lifelong defender of constitutional rights and an important voice whose critical opinions about judicial developments carried much weight. My sincere condolences to his loved ones. May the departed soul rest in peace.”

In his message the former union minister Prof Saifuddin Soz said, “I feel sad on the demise of senior Supreme Court lawyer and eminent jurist, Fali Sam Nariman, who was one of the most outstanding legal minds and intellectuals.” He added that the nation has lost a towering figure of intellect and wisdom. Soz also said that by his passing away, the country has lost the epitome of what righteousness stood for.

“I offer my sincere condolences to Shri Rohinton and the family and to countless admirers and fans of late Fali S Nariman,” Soz said.
