Policeman dies after his service rifle goes off in Bandipora

Srinagar, Oct 17: A 32-year-old policeman died on Friday after his service rifle went off accidentally inside the police lines in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Officials identified the deceased as Arfeen Lone, son of Darwesh Lone, a resident of Malangam. He had sustained critical injuries after the rifle discharged accidentally and was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
