Police to conduct Rajouri half marathon to promote unity, drug-free society
Rajouri, Dec 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Rajouri district was all set to organise a ‘Rajouri half marathon’, carrying a strong message of unity and a drug-free society.
The national-level sporting event, which will be organised tomorrow, December 7, morning, is likely to witness the participation of marathon runners from across the country.
Beyond its social importance, the marathon holds special significance as it is being conducted in areas close to the Line of Control (LoC).
The event is expected to boost the morale of the local civil population, which has endured hardships due to cross-border shelling by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar, briefed the media about the objectives and importance of the event, highlighting that sports play a vital role in fostering peace, unity, and positive engagement among youth.
He said that the marathon would be held in three categories—5 kilometres, 10 kilometres, and 21 kilometres.
Winners in each category would be felicitated and suitably rewarded, the SSP said.
