Police solve diesel theft case in Doda, accused arrested
Ramban, Feb 24: Police have solved a diesel theft case in Doda district by arresting an accused person and recovering the stolen fuel along with the vehicle used in the crime, officials said Tuesday.
According to police officials, on February 22, 2026, Asrar-ul-Haq, a contractor engaged in the construction of the Badanoo–Mahri Road, lodged a written complaint at Police Station Thathri. He reported that during the intervening night of February 21 and 22, unknown persons had stolen a plastic drum containing approximately 230 litres of diesel from his work site.
Acting on the complaint, Police Station Thathri registered FIR No. 14/2026 under Sections 305(a) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation was immediately initiated.
On the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, a special investigation team was constituted under the leadership of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Thathri and under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bhaderwah.
Following sustained efforts and a meticulous investigation, the police arrested the accused, identified as Talib Hussain, son of Gh. Hussain, a resident of Barshalla, on the evening of February 23, 2026.
Based on his disclosure, police recovered the vehicle bearing registration number JK06C-6498, which was allegedly used in the commission of the offence, along with the stolen diesel.
Police stated that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
