Police solve blind hit-and-run case in Baramulla, driver arrested, vehicle seized
Srinagar, Nov 27: Police in north Kashmir’s Pattan on Wednesday claimed to have solved blind hit-and-run case and arrested a driver involved besides seized vehicle from Budgam.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shah Jahan while sharing details with media persons said that on 15th November 2024, Police Post Palhallan received information about a hit-and-run incident involving an unidentified vehicle traveling from Baramulla towards Srinagar.
He said the vehicle hit a pedestrian, Nazir AhmadiSofi, son of Late Abdul Ahad Sofi, resident of Saderbal Palhallan, near Parsa’s Restaurant in Palhallan.
“Acting on the information, FIR No. 314/2024 under sections 281, 125A, and 106 BNS was registered at Police Station Pattan, and an investigation was promptly initiated. Unfortunately, the injured pedestrian succumbed to his injuries after being shifted to the hospital,” he said.
He said that with high meticulous tracking and technical assistance, the vehicle involved, bearing registration number JK04J-0917, was traced and seized on 26th November 2024.
The driver identified as Ahmad Parray, son of Ab. Rashid Parray, resident of Bun Zanigam, Budgam was apprehended and subsequently arrested.
The vehicle bore visible hit marks and had been freshly painted white, indicating the concealment of the evidence, he said.
The DSP said that swift action and diligent investigation by the police led to the resolution of this case, and ensured justice to the victim.
