Police seize 8 vehicles involved in illegal mining in Ganderbal

Srinagar, Nov 04: Continuing its special drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police in Ganderbal have seized 08 vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from different areas falling under the jurisdiction of PS Ganderbal, Gund & PP Nagbal.

An official said the vehicles were found transporting minerals without valid permission and were subsequently seized on the spot by concerned police teams in coordination with the Geology and Mining Department.

Illegal extraction of minerals not only causes loss to the public exchequer but also leads to severe environmental degradation. Police has reiterated its firm resolve to take strict action against those involved in such unlawful activities, he said.

Police advised general public to refrain from indulging in illegal mining and transportation of minerals, and held that strict legal action will be taken against the violators.
