Police seize 5.5 kg of contraband in Pulwama, 1 held

Pulwama, Nov 3: In a continued drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Pulwama Police have seized a substantial quantity of contraband material at Okhoo Kakapora and arrested one person in connection with the case.

A police team from Kakapora Police Station, while conducting routine checkpoint duty at Okhoo Kakapora, intercepted a Tata 207 vehicle bearing registration number JK01Q-0468. The vehicle was being driven by Javaid Ahmad Dar, also known as Jana Dar, son of Mohammad Maqbool, a resident of Okhoo Kakapora.

During a detailed search of the vehicle, police recovered 5.565 kilograms of suspected poppy straw.

Following the seizure, a case under FIR No. 69/2025 was registered at Police Station Kakapora under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act. An investigation has been launched to trace the source of the contraband and identify possible links in the network.

Police reiterated their firm resolve to eradicate the drug menace from society and urged the public to extend cooperation by providing information that could help in combating drug trafficking and related offences.
