Police register NDPS case after major seizure in Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 17: Police on Monday arrested a drug peddler during a check at a checkpoint at Malkha Chowk in Nowhatta and recovered a large quantity of contraband from his possession.

News gathering agency KNT quoted officials as saying that a team from Police Station Nowhatta intercepted a suspect during routine checking.

“On search, 3.40 kg of a charas-like substance and 12 Tramadol injections were recovered. The accused was immediately taken into custody,” the officials said.

They said he was later identified as Haider Hilal Wani, son of Javid Ahmad of Kathi Darwaza, Rainawari.

Police said a case under FIR No 57 of 2025 under Sections 8, 20, and 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nowhatta.

Police said an investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and further links of the recovered contraband.
