Police recover illicit timber at Rafiabad in Baramulla

Sopore, Mar 29: Police in Sopore recovered consignment of illicit timber at Compartment No 34, Buden, Rafiabad forest area in the jurisdiction of Police Station Dangiwacha, Rafiabad.

In a statement issued here, Police said that specific information was received regarding illicit timber smuggling and accordingly, a Police party of Police Station Dangiwacha along with the Forest Department, conducted a raid at specific location.

During the raid, the Police party recovered a total of 76 sq ft of illicit timber (deodar) from the spot.

Police said that the accused persons involved have been identified as Javaid Ahmad Mir, Ehsan Ahmad Parray, Ghulam Muhammad Mir, and Wali Muhammad Mir.

They all are residents of Dachanipora Rohama, Rafiabad, and took the advantage of darkness and fled from the spot.

A case FIR No 32/2025 under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha.
